PEG's video: Crisis Force NES FC - Full Run with No Deaths

@Crisis Force (NES/FC) - Full Run with No Deaths
Full run of Crisis Force (クライシスフォース) on normal mode, no deaths/no miss! This was played with the real Famicom cart on a real NES using an adapter. Stage Listing: 00:00 - Start 01:06 - Stage 1 04:19 - Stage 2 07:09 - Stage 3 12:15 - Stage 4 17:43 - Stage 5 24:00 - Stage 6 28:41 - Stage 7 34:57 - Final Boss + Ending Crisis Force is another in the long list of great shmups that never made it outside of Japan, and thus was only made available on the Famicom. It's really a shame because this point in time was pretty much the prime of Konami, where they could basically do no wrong (oh how times have changed...). Immediately the graphics stand out compared to earlier games, with an almost 16-bit quality to them. The only drawback to this is that there is a lot of flicker and slowdown in the game depending on what is going on and what weapons you are using (more on that later). Outside of the excellent presentation, you will also find a game that is very fun to play! The game basically consists of the player having 3 different forms they can activate at will (A button toggles between them), and they each have different offensive and defensive capabilities. This is further expanded on by the type of powerup you collect. There are both red and blue powerups, the blue are the basic weapons and the red are the special weapons. You can power up your weapon 3 times, but getting hit will bring you all the way back to zero. Take a second hit beyond that, and you are dead. Hint: you only need the red weapons, they are much better in nearly every scenario. Along with the 3 forms of the ship, you also get 3 different bomb types depending on your current form. Normally B is your fire button and A toggles ship type, but if you are already holding B and press A, it will release your bomb instead of changing types. All 3 forms of your ship are useful depending on the situation. One of the most underrated and useful to to use is the "barrier" type, which can cancel bullets, lasers, and other projectiles that will likely kill you. It has the further "benefit" of slowing the game down do to too many objects on screen (with also adding massive amounts of flicker), which can make things easier to dodge. The main drawback of this type is that it has pitiful damage and also the worst bomb by far, so it will take you much longer to kill anything. Like many shmups the real challenge is basically invovled in what happens when things go wrong, i.e. getting hit or killed. Crisis Force is pretty brutal in that regard as powering down often leads to many chain deaths. All I can say is make sure you use your bombs before you die! The "warp bomb" in particular is good here, as it is the only bomb that makes you invulnerable, and can also do really good damage to the bosses.
