PRICELESS CHANNEL's video: Karen Calls Cops On Black Woman

She called police to the scene, who not only responded but wrote the Black woman a $385 ticket, charging her with being a “public nuisance.” The story comes from Eastpointe, Michigan. Diamond Robinson posted a Facebook Live video of the incident on May 27, showing three officers coming to her house at the behest of a Karen who complained about the loud phone conversation she was having. Even though she tells the officers that she’s recording the incident, they proceed with writing up a citation. They contending that Robinson created a public nuisance, which comes with a $385 fine. She continues her narration after the officer leaves, wondering what the Karen—a neighbor across the street she identifies as “Rebecca” and, alternately, “Miss Rebecca”—might do should she mow the lawn, hold a party at her house, or even sit on her grass outside. “I’m just trying to figure this out, Facebook!” she exclaims. Robinson has since garnered media attention as a result of the Facebook Live posting, calling Fox 2 Detroit about the incident. In a video she posted to Facebook the same day as her original Facebook live posting, she documented the reporter who heard her side of the story also talking to Rebecca. Rebecca told the reporter, “The fine speaks for itself.” Police told the reporter that, regarding the severity of the fine, Robinson will have her day in court. Indeed, Robinson said she will fight it, regarding it as an issue that affects more than just her. What is a Karen? The term “Karen” is a vast umbrella that’s taken on different meanings across internet culture. It’s chiefly understood to mean an entitled, often racist, white woman who has a public meltdown that spreads like wildfire across social media. Often, these incidents seem triggered when the Karen meets an unexpected barrier to the privilege of their day-to-day life. (For example, someone tells them they can’t enter a grocery store without a mask, and they respond by throwing produce.)
