The tutorial shows all the steps to create a realistic transparent snow globe effect. If you learn this you'll be able to use the same technique to create a glass ball or a crystal ball with no problems. In the tutorial I'm combining various textures like the snow texture inside the snowglobe or the wood texture used for the base of the snow globe. If you want, you can take this design further by animating the falling snow texture. Just turn on the frame animation and add a couple of frames while moving the snow texture.
