To me, this is a great version of Doom. It features brand new levels, visual improvements and a great creepy atmosphere. Back in 1997, the game was criticized for using sprites instead of real 3D models. It was also overshadowed by another great FPS on N64, Turok: Dinausaur Hunter. It is still a good entry in the serie worth checking out.
