Paani Ka Teeka's video: Devi Ki Diwali - Short version film

Over the years, Vidarbha, in Maharashtra has been experiencing erratic climatic conditions, in the form of unseasonal and low rainfall causing heavy crop loss. Aggravating this, are the low prices of agriculture produce, and the dependence of the farmers on loans to meet the increasing input cost in agriculture. The Misery of continuous crop failures has forced many farmers in this region to commit suicide. Paani Ka Teeka’s knowledge partner - Watershed Organisation Trust, WOTR has been working with the widows from the above mentioned areas in 4 blocks of Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. WOTR’s sister organization, The Sampada Trust provides livelihood training, financial assistance and follow-up support to these women. The women are also given psychological assistance to help, cope with the trauma. The project last year directly benefitted 53 women and this year, we have identified 100 widows who will join our second batch of the program.
