🙏 Jai bhole ki 🙏Sondai fort is a small fort at an altitude of 1,200 ft above sea level. Located at a distance of about 80 kms from Mumbai. A diversion from the old Mumbai Pune road just after Lodhivali. Drive along the Morbe reservoir to reach the base village Sondewadi. The trail starts after the village ends. Ample parking is available and the locals take a nominal charge. Total up down distance of trek is about 5.5 kms. During the monsoon season, the entire path covered with greenery and different coloured flowers. Easy trek. There are three sections where you have to walk very carefully on inclined rock. It's steep and slippery. Three solid metal ladders are fixed to help you get to the top. Two small water tanks are present after the first ladder but the water is not suitable for drinking. You can buy water bottles from the locals or fill your bottles from small stream just at the starting point. An easy pace with some rest stops and you can reach the top in 90 minutes. No fort exists on the summit. A single tree is there and the total area is not more than 3000 sqft. Under the tree are idols of Sondai Mata and other deities. From here the view of surrounding mountains and Morbe reservoir is amazing. You can spend a lot of time here and then begin your descend. It will take you not more than an hour to reach the base. A 5 minute drive further ahead will lead you to a waterfall. Cool and clean water gushing down the mountain side. You can rejuvinate and freshen up here before leaving this place with unforgettable memories 🙏
