Muore a Milano, all’età di 76 anni, Padre David Maria Turoldo, poeta friulano ed esponente di un rinnovamento del cattolicesimo dell’ultima metà del XX secolo. “Essere nel mondo senza essere del mondo” così si può riassumere il suo impegno e il suo talento artistico. Nel 1948 Padre Turoldo rifiuta di sostenere la Democrazia Cristiana, dichiarando che “non bisogna confondere la chiesa con i partiti, né viceversa”. Turoldo è ricordato come la “coscienza inquieta della chiesa”.
