l Re Vittorio Emanuele II assume per sé e per i suoi successori il titolo di Re d’Italia”. Con queste parole la Legge n. 4671 del Regno di Sardegna, votata ed approvata dal primo parlamento unitario, proclama la nascita ufficiale del Regno d’Italia. Dal punto di vista istituzionale e giuridico, il nuovo stato, nato dall’annessione della maggior parte dei territori degli stati pre-unitari, assume la struttura e le norme del Regno di Sardegna: una monarchia costituzionale, secondo la lettera dello Statuto albertino del 1848.
