Nasce a Zelazowa-Wola in Polonia, Frederic Chopin, considerato il più grande compositore polacco e uno dei più grandi pianisti di tutti i tempi. Tra i principali rappresentanti del Romanticismo è soprannominato “il poeta del pianoforte”. A vent’anni si trasferisce a Parigi e nel 1838 incontra e si innamora della scrittrice George Sand. Insieme hanno una relazione intensa e tormentata che al termine lascia Chopin in una profonda depressione. Il dolore dell’abbandono peggiora la fragile salute del musicista che muore a Parigi il 17 ottobre 1849
