Nasce a Verona Walter Chiari, pseudonimo di Walter Annichiarico. Arruolatosi nella Decima Mas, alla fine della guerra esordisce nel teatro di rivista. Con alcune interpretazioni memorabili, in cui spicca la sua grande capacità di improvvisatore, si afferma come attore comico e brillante intrattenitore, approdando presto anche alla televisione e al cinema. Indimenticabili sono le sue interpretazioni in "Bellissima" di Visconti, "Il giovedì" di Dino Risi e "Falstaff" di Orson Welles. Negli anni ‘70, a causa di alcune vicende legate alla droga, per le quali viene anche arrestato, scompare dalle scene. Muore il 20 dicembre 1991.
