When coaching the press up observe from all angles & look at the shoulder! If your client is internally rotating with the elbows flaring out?! This could aggravate the shoulder. Instead aim for thoracic extension and retraction of the shoulder blades to fully engage the pectoralis Major. You’ll also observe the elbows go backwards at a 45 degrees rather than 90 degrees. Not only do you protect the shoulder but you are engaging the prime mover (pectorals) more effectively and efficiently.
