The rest between sets and exercises is not always 60 seconds. There is be a sweet spot between there being too long a rest that you’re wasting time but enough rest that you’re able to have the right amount of recovery. This sweet spot is about finding an efficient and time effective time frame for your client to rest for. There is an ACSM Guide for this… If your client is doing less repetitions they’re probably lifting a heavier load in which case they would have more rest. However, if your client is lifting more repetitions (say 15 reps) they’re probably lifting a comparatively lighter load. In which case they would have less rest. Here is the ACSM Guide for Reps VS Rest: 15 reps is 30 secs rest 12 reps is 60 secs rest 10 reps is 90 secs rest 8 reps is 120 secs rest Less than 5 reps is 3+ mins of rest depending on the exercise and number of muscles 💪 engaged. So it’s not always 60 seconds rest when it comes to planned.
