Managing Director of the Australian Logistics Council, Kirk Coningham, says Parkes is Central to Australia's Transport Future. The Australian Logistics Council look at national levels, so the whole end to end supply chain picture, but Parkes is a very important part of that piece. We expect the freight task to double by 2040 so with every 1% improvement in efficiency in the end to end supply chain, we add an extra $2B to Australia's bottom line. Here we have major highways coming through; so we have trains running from here to Perth, to South Australia as well it’s a natural hub for all of these activities to get the things that Australians need imported, but also the things that Australians want to sell to the rest of the world - and that's where Parkes is today, a point at which all the dots are connected. Parkes is very much central to Australia's transport future.
