Please join us. Composer: Francisco Canaro MATASANO is a play on words. Written by Francisco Canaro to be debuted at the Gran Baile del Internado, the annual Grand Ball of the Medical Interns. It is a joke at the medical students' expense, meaning killing the healthy. Lyrics were written by Pascual Contursi in which a thug describes his life, living by and commanding respect by the knife, though he has an inner torment, though these lyrics seem to be at odds with the original purpose of the tango. A vocal version was never recorded. In this, a fairly fast and upbeat tango, Canaro recaptures the atmosphere he envisaged when he originally wrote the tango in 1914.
