Paul Maher's video: Kit Solo - Rock

I’ve never played drum solos but have been asked over the years to demo a rock type solo! I can’t play jazz so here’s my ‘warts and all’ "turn it up to eleven" Spinal Tap rock moment!!! Rhythm wise it’s a lot of linear inverted type paradiddles, sixtuplets etc and totally robbed too from fantastic American drummers that like Adam Tuminaro and Jeff Randall. This version was recorded at the end of a few long days of trial and error. By this stage I’d worn the skin off two fingers on my right hand but was determined to get a half decent recording even though I was knackered! It’s by no means perfect but just something for my ageing rock buddies to check out! Ideally it’s gonna sound better with decent speakers if you want to hear the low bass end of the kit.
