Earth & Sky’s new astronomy centre in Takapō (Lake Tekapo) has reached a vital milestone with its large observatory dome being craned onto the building. The 10.9m diameter dome weighs about seven tonnes and will house the 125-year-old Brashear Telescope, which will stand up to a maximum of nine metres tall. The centre is being built by Earth & Sky Limited Partnership, a joint venture between Ngāi Tahu Tourism and partners Graeme Murray and Hide Ozawa.
