PegEntLtd's video: BOMBERS OF WORLD WAR TWO

@BOMBERS OF WORLD WAR TWO
DISC ONE - THE STORY OF THE LANCASTER As RAF Bomber Command took the war to the enemy under Air Chief Marshall Arthur Harris, the four-engined Avro Lancaster reigned supreme, replacing the rugged, reliable Wellington in laying waste to German cities by night. This most successful of all World War II heavies could carry more than its own weight in bomb load, including the 22,000 pound Grand Slam Earthquake bomb - the biggest conventional weapon ever made. And when fearless Guy Gibson led 617 Squadron to fame on the low-level Dambuster raid - one of the wars most daring operations - the Lancaster was confirmed as an aviation legend. With recent colour film of City of Lincoln, the RAFs last airworthy Lancaster, among the wartime footage, this is the Lancasters dramatic story. DISC TWO - VICKERS WELLINGTON When it entered service in 1938, the twin-engined Vickers Wellington began an operational career that spanned the whole of the Second World War. Rugged and reliable, it was operated by Bomber Command, Coastal Command and Transport Command, possessing a level of versatility second to none, serving in almost every theatre of war. By the autumn of 1945 nearly 11,500 had been built. As the last one rolled off the Vickers production line, the Wimpy as it was affectionately known, had secured its place in history, as one of the truly great aircraft of the Second World War. DISC THREE - RAF BOMBER COMMAND RAF Bomber Command was responsible for carrying the war to Hitlers Germany, when Britain stood alone during the early years of the war. By 1942 losses had grown so heavy that the RAF adopted a policy of night bombing only. The staggeringly high casualties were borne with unwavering resolve by the men who knew they had a job which must be done. This is the story of the air war over Germany from the British viewpoint. It features rare archive material from both British and German sources, new footage of surviving RAF bombers, illustrative maps and graphics, and military analysis by Dr. Robin Clifton of Warwick University.
