Perfect Little Planet's video: Christmas in New York: Christmas Tree Tour

@Christmas in New York: Christmas Tree Tour
From Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park down to the New York Stock Exchange, we show you some of our favorite New York Christmas Trees. Trees we visited and details about each one: Rockefeller Center (5th Ave, between 50th and 49th St) They keep the flow going one way, so you MUST enter from 5th Ave. The promenade is full of angels, Saks 5th Ave is right behind you and they play a fun show on their wall every few minutes. The rink is cool and the Tree is famous. Can't miss this one. Bryant Park (42nd Street at 6th Ave) Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center go back and forth contending for the best holiday attraction. Personally, I favor Bryant Park. The tree is gorgeous, the rink is FREE, and the Christmas market is (I think) the best in the City. And if you're there when it's been below freezing for a while, the frozen fountain is SO COOL. American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th St) The tree is on the 4th floor in the Southeast corner "Astor Turret." This is our favorite Christmas tree in the City. The tree is covered with Origami animals from dinosaurs to insects and everything in between. Plaques challenge kids to find various things ("Can you find the Turkey Dinner?") and it's so interesting to look at all the creations. There are 1000 origami models on the tree! The MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art - 5th Ave at 82nd Street) You'll need to stand in line to get into the museum, which is pay-what-you-wish, and once inside, go straight past the main stairs on the ground level toward the choir screen. The tree itself is pretty simple, but the base has an extremely elaborate village with hundreds of Neapolitan Baroque Crèche dolls. You'll spend a good 15 minutes examining all the villagers and their animals. Bloomberg Tower (731 Lexington Ave, but the tree is on 58th, between Lex and 3rd) Beautiful tree as a focal point in the enormous courtyard. South Street Seaport You can skip this one if you want. Sometimes they have holiday markets or other festivities down there which are fun, but it's pretty far out of the way just to go see the tree. New York Stock Exchange (Broad St, just south of Wall St) The tree is always pretty, but the best part is how they light up the Stock Exchange facade. The Oculus (at the World Trade Center) It's cool and modern and the holiday market is worth checking out. They usually have some free activities to do there too. Zuccotti Park (Broadway and Liberty St) The trees are so pretty with all their white lights, and they add a bunch of Christmas trees throughout the park. One World Trade They light up the bottom portion of the facade with various holiday decorations, from presents to snowflakes to Christmas trees. Trinity Church (Broadway at Wall Street) Pretty Christmas trees beside the altar, plus a nice nativity scene. Cathedral of St. John the Divine (Amsterdam at 112th) The tree is visible from the free part of the entryway, so you don't have to pay to see it. The tree is called the Peace Tree and is decorated with hundreds of paper cranes, an Asian symbol of harmony, longevity and reconciliation. Central Park (Harlem Meer, Northeast corner of the Park) They float a group of trees out into the lake and light it at night. When the lake freezes, it stays there throughout the winter, but they stop lighting it after January 6. Washington Square Park (5th Ave at Waverly Place/West 4th) The tree is usually placed inside the Arch, and I like it there better. This year there is some art in the arch, so the tree was in the square.
