Peter Joseph Archive's video: In Limbo Music for Dance 2006 Live Acoustic Electric Looping - Structured Improv by Peter Joseph

@“In Limbo” Music for Dance, 2006. Live Acoustic/Electric Looping - Structured Improv by Peter Joseph
Structured Improvisation for one player. Experimental structured Improvisation. All sounds are introduced live and performed by one person. The gesture of this commissioned piece considers an infant child’s death in utero, as it then endures “limbo” for eternity in the afterlife. Limited recording performance quality, FYI. Method. Using mostly multiple Oberheim Echoplexes to process live analog loop sequence capture with no quantization, moving through many mixer and fx processing chains, while mixing direct inputs from electric midi instruments with live microphones for the acoustic instruments, compensating for severe feedback suppression - this piece was commissioned by a modern dance company and performed only 3 times life in NYC in the fall of 2006. The 1 hour and 5 min piece is constructed in 11 sections. Style concept was influenced by the work of Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. Instrumentation: Vibraphone Marimba Tar Riq Pandeiro Kanjira Vdrum Midi Kit Acoustic kit with midi triggers Crystal Singing bowl Bronze Bells Shakers
