One interpretation of “Zavarakatranemia,” is that Yannis Markopoulos, who was routinely subject to censorship during the rule of the Junta in Greece (1967-1974), urges his fellow citizens to rise up against the dictatorship with what appear to be nonsense lyrics but actually are a call to his listeners to revolt.
