Phil6219's video: 20107 20096 at Bamfurlong - 05th January 2021

Green Choppers 20107 & 20096 (D8107 & D8096) head south through Bamfurlong on a light engine run from Carlisle to Crewe on Tuesday 05th January 2021. The Class 20s, or should I say English Electric Type One's were looking excellent in their British Railways green livery. The pair made for an interesting sight too with both locomotives facing the same direction, not something I have seen on the mainline for many years... The pair had gone north to Carlisle just before Christmas and were scheduled to work some route learners north of the border ahead of some railtours however, following Scotland doing it's thing that plan was scrapped and thus the pair were set to return home a few days earlier than scheduled. They left Carlisle on time with 96 leading however that popped near Dalton meaning 107 had to drag them back to Carlisle. It was then decided to run 107 round the "triangle" so it was able to head home cab first, rather than bonnet first which would have been nice too ;) I got lucky with this one, even in a new path it was running late and was expected after sunset. Fortunately after being looped a few times further north it was able to get a clear run through and passing me ten minutes early. It was also rather fortunate that some hoodlums on motorbikes had scarpered just a couple of minutes before these passed as that would have been the wrong kind of "Chopper" ;) It also meant we can enjoy a little bit of chibble as the pair coast past...
