@CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: Gyeongju Edition | FAT TIME KOREA 2 | 경주에서 벚꽃 축제
♡ Cherry Blossom Marathon, Bulguksa, Gyeongju World ♡ April is here which means it's spring time in Korea! Spring in Korea is the best time to travel around and hit the cherry blossom festivals. I decided to go travel to Gyeongju this year and participate in the Cherry Blossom Marathon. Here's to an athletic, cultured and playful weekend in Gyeongju! I visited Gyeongju back in August last year but it just wasn't enough to give the city justice. The beautiful trees, surrounding mountains, architectures, and history make this a must visit destination. Side note, 2019 goal complete! I ran in a marathon- first of many. I definitely experienced the runners high afterwards and it was amazing! Speaking of which, I should get training again for my next race. It an excellent weekend plan- run in the marathon and enjoy the astonishing views along the lake, soak in some religious cultural history and take many pictures of the cherry blossom trees and end it off with an amusement park. Seriously, I can't think of any reason you shouldn't go to Gyeongju. The race was held fairly early in the morning starting at the Culture Expo, going around the lake and somewhere out to the river. They closed off the roads for the race so after as we tried to leave, the traffic jam locked us in for two hours. But if you don't mind playing in sweat, I recommend going straight across the street to Gyeongju World. Seriously, I would have... Bulguksa is one of the very cherished historical sites in Korea. We didn't have to time to visit everything there but when you go, climb up the stairs to the big statue. It is totally worth it! The place felt very sacred and making too much noise would be disruptive to the monks. Along it was busy with tours, the temple offered a peaceful state of mind. Surrounded by natures beauty and the ancient history, a step into the temple was like a step into paradise- like they called it: The Land of the Buddha. Now, I've heard many things about Gyeongju World and how great the rides are. For the most part, I was pretty impressed. My favourite was Klake. It was a decent length, it goes up and around a couple times and best of all is the view. Assuming you don't close your eyes on rides, when you go on Klake, it is like looking at a painting of Gyeongju. The nature, the skies, the mountains, buildings.. it's a 360 view and I really wish I could share the image with everyone. Draken however, was a little disappointing. The line was wayyyyy too long, compared to the others where we didn't even have to wait, and the ride wasn't even that great. The drop was at the very beginning and then there was just 20 secs of the ride left! Nevertheless, this weekend was one of the greatest! Thanks V for running with me- you did great!
