Pitt Admissions's video: Graham Hatfull

Eberly Family Professor of Biotechnology, HHMI Professor, Biology Graham Hatfull teaches Microbial Genetic Engineering and PHAGES Biology Lab in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. A model for other Pitt professors, he has supervised more than 100 undergraduate researchers in his laboratory. His research focuses on exploring bacteriophage genomics and therapeutic potential in relation to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which kills more people than any other single infectious agent. He's been awarded the Carski Teaching Award from the American Society for Microbiology, the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award, and the Chancellor's Distinguished Research Award. He enjoys brewing beer and making cheese in his spare time, and he rows with the Three Rivers Rowers Association.
