Pitt Admissions's video: Walter Carson

Dr. Walter Carson completed his doctorate in 1993 at Cornell University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He then completed postdoctoral research at Princeton University with Steve Hubbell and at the University of Minnesota with Dave Tilman. He has spent the last 25 years studying the ecology of the Eastern Deciduous Forest Biome. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a former University of Pittsburgh Fellow in Sustainability (2015-2016) and was a Charles Bullard Fellow in Forest Research at Harvard University (2016-2017). He has toured Russia twice in the last few years as a guest of the Russian Academy of Science and the United States Embassy. While there, he traveled and lectured extensively on the future of the world’s temperate forest ecosystems.
