Assistant Professor and Director of Science Education Labs Jason J. Dechant teaches Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology in the School of Nursing. He uses technology in the classroom by providing lectures online through Microsoft Lync and Panopto. His current research focus is on the role that mitochondrial DNA polymorphisms may play in the development of seizures after traumatic brain injury. Over the past two years, he has become involved with teaching in Pitt Honors. He teaches an Honors course called Literature and Science: The Anatomy Lesson- a cross-discipline course in Medical Humanities. One of his favorite pastimes is playing video games with his son.
