Vix in Japan's video: Japan Road Trip 2022 and Philosophy Part 1: What vacations reveal about our lives - Iwate to Niigata

In this first video in my series "Journey Down Japan", I start my road trip that will cover some 5500km in Japan from Iwate in Japan's far north east to Miyazaki in Japan's far south west. From winter to spring in a matter of days. This first video covers the first leg of the journey from Iwate down to Niigata. In this video I hope to show you the sights of the road trip but also a little bit of the philosophy through which I am beginning to understand my life. I am now very much in my late 30s (38) and up until I moved to Japan in March 2020 I had just worked and worked and worked. And none of it really made sense to me and I certainly wasn't happy in what I was doing. Coming to Japan was to break that routine and get back to working with people, both students and my teachers and to find out what my calling was in life. Since then I have been working on resurfacing the artist in me that had never really been fully able to fly. But as time has passed, I have also some strong feelings about why the future is so important; and why you shouldn't get caught up in the past and nostalgia for too long; and why relatively little about what you struggle against in life is actually of your own doing, you have only been brought up to live life according to one way, to be economically productive for the machine. Over the course of these videos I hope to explore how I have come to understand the nature of freedom, what freedom really is and why it's important, and what it is to really embrace life without fear; as well as show you many of Japan's beautiful sights and sounds along the way.
