Is Islam A Religion Of Peace? (You can translate the captions into your own language) In this episode of "Christ in Prophecy" Dr. David Reagan interviews a former Muslim Mark Gabriel. Mark Gabriel was a professor of Islamic History at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. Al-Azhar University is the world's premier university for Islamic teaching. He was a devout Muslim, raised in a devout Muslim family, regular attended a mosque and memorized the entire Qur'an by the age of twelve years old! After his extensive and exhaustive study of Islamic history, in particular the beginnings of Islam and the contents of the Qur'an, Mark Gabriel became convinced that the Qur'an was a book designed by a man rather than being a genuine book of God. Once he confessed these new opinions on the Qur'an he was immediately fired from the university, wrongly accused of being a Christian convert, was kidnapped by the Egyptian police, tortured, almost murdered by his own father and even avoided assassination from Muslim assassins three times! 1) Almighty God despises those who are violent, liars, proud and quick to spread suffering, pain, chaos and heartache among people: Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 2) Jesus hates violence, disagrees and is quick to discipline those who resort to violence: Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Matthew 18:21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 5:38-39 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 3) Even John the Baptist and the writers of the New testament were against violence: Luke 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him (John the Baptist), saying, And what shall we do? And he (John the Baptist) said unto them, DO violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. Romans 12:19-21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 4) The Bible teaches that God's nature is peace and freedom. Many nations around the world especially those with biblical roots retain this biblical truth: 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. John 14:27 Peace I (Jesus) leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me (Jesus), all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
