Plymptoons's video: Guide Dog

@Guide Dog
"Guide Dog" was released in 2006 and was the first sequel to Bill Plympton's Oscar-nominated animated short, "Guard Dog". In this film Bill's famous Dog character sets out to assist blind people, and of course his intentions are always very good but the results are horrific (and hilarious). The inspiration came from the location of the Bill Plympton studio, years ago it was on West 23rd St. in Manhattan, right above a computer repair store called Tekserve (no longer there, the Apple Store ran it out of business). On the same block was a housing complex for the blind (still there), and Bill often saw the residents walking by with their guide dogs. "Guide Dog" won the First Place award for Animation at the USA Film Festival, Dallas, Best Animation at the New Jersey Film Festival, and a Platinum Remi Award at the Worldfest Houston, and it also played at the Philadelphia Film Festival, the Annecy Animation Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival, the Jerusalem International Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the Athens International Film Festival, Animadrid in Spain, the Denver Film Festival, SXSW in Austin, the Aspen Shortsfest, and MANY other festivals, and it also toured as part of The Animation Show.
