@🧒 Poetic ASMR - Poems on Parents and Parenthood (Whispered poem with microphone cupping sounds) 🧒
Hi everybody 😊 This is my second attempt at a compilation of poems. This one's focused on parents and parenthood (most of them are about fathers). Microphone cupping sounds are added in the background. Hope you like it 🙂 🕰 Timestamps 🕰 00:00 Intro 00:21 "The Children's Hour" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow 03:02 "The Responsibility of Fatherhood" by Edgar Albert Guest 05:47 "Father" by Edgar Albert Guest 07:58 "A Cradle Song" by William Blake 10:22 "Home and the Office" by Edgar Albert Guest 12:07 "Throwing Away the Alarm Clock" by Charles Bukowski 13:34 "Poem for my Father's Ghost" by Mary Oliver 15:54 "A Frosty Night" by Robert Graves Poem 1: Poem about Longfellow's three daughters and his love for them. It has a bit of a mystical but also a sweet quality about it. Poem 2: This second poem focuses on how a person's outlook on life changes once they become a parent. It is the first of three poem by Guest that I've included in this compilation. Poem 3: Guest provides a more humorous outlook on fatherhood by describing a father who could apparently solve the nations problems in an instant but is lost when it comes to the family's everyday troubles. Poem 4: In this poem, a mother sings a lullaby to her child, telling the baby to stay asleep. It's a short and simple - yet beautiful - piece of poetry. Poem 5: The third (and last) poem by Guest that I decided to include in this collection implores fathers to enjoy the time with their children at home and to leave their troubles at work and the office. Poem 6: Bukowski, who had a notoriously difficult relationship with his father, juxtaposes his father's need to get up early in the morning with his own more relaxed attitude. It's a very poignant poem about the differences between father and son, and how one can learn from an older generation's mistakes. © Charles Bukowski, The Flash of Lightning Behind the Mountain, 2005. As in most of Oliver's poems, there's a big focus on nature. Given how abusive her father was towards Oliver, this poem is a very forgiving portrayal of his journey into the unknown. © Mary Oliver, Twelve Moons, 1979. Throughout the poem, the mother keeps asking her daughter about her seemingly agitated state. Graves heavily relies on natural imagery to create an almost supernatural mood. Ultimately, it is revealed that Alice has been seeing someone, and has attempted to keep the relationship from her mother.
