On February 24th 2016, Justice Wright sentenced the activists to 6 weeks prison, suspended for 12 months, 120-180 hours community service and £500-£1000 costs. This was considered a victory as Justice Wight on January 25th had told the defendents to expect custodial sentences. Their crime? They occupied Heathrow Airport in July 2015 and were found guilty of aggravated trespass and being unlawfully airside. They brought attention to the pertinent fact that you cannot expand airports and keep within your nation's commitment to reducing teh acceleration of climate change. I (film maker) was part of a group of about 300 supporters who waited patiently as the day long trial took place. It was worth the wait. It took me months to put my footage on line.....for many reasons...I had bitten more than I could chew at the time. There are three clips unedited on my channel of the day.
