Solidarność Anti-Apartheid concert at the Gdańsk Shipyard on 13-12-1989 was organized to mark the 8th anniversary of martial law, celebrate the ethos of Solidarność (Solidarity workers’ union) and demonstrate solidarity with the anti-apartheid warriors all over the world. At that time Solidarność showed its desire to fight for equal rights and justice internationally and by being one of the links in the worldwide chain of the anti-apartheid movement contributed to the release of Nelson Madiba Mandela from prison in February of 1990 after 27 years of incarceration by the apartheid regime in South Africa.
