These lines are designed with pits beneath the tracks, which allow maintenance crews to access the underside of the trains for various inspection, repair, and maintenance tasks. Pit Lines are essential for conducting routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections on rolling stock (trains and locomotives). The pit underneath the tracks provides easy access to the undercarriage of the trains, allowing maintenance personnel to work on components like braking systems, traction motors, couplers, and other parts that are not easily accessible from above. Pit Lines are equipped with various tools, equipment, and machinery necessary for maintenance activities.
