@Patna Jabalpur JOURNEY COMPILATION : Patna Bandra Express | LHB Rake
A from to in the Patna Weekly Superfast Express in its recently allocated rake. The journey is set in the of 2018 when the north Indian winter is at its peak. We are led by a WDP-4D from or , as you might want to call it. A more or less timely departure from Patna is followed by a smooth acceleration through , the other rail-head of the capital. Thereafter its a decent run past the plains of Bihar to where the is seen departing towards . This, however happens on the other side of twin crossings before Mughalsarai. Its only after this that we get gripped by the (in)famous North Indian fog. We manage to reach next morning at 6:30 am where the outside in engulfed in dense fog. This train bypasses and hence takes the bypass tracks towards Satna. Thereafter starts a hampered run, the fog reducing the visibility drastically. The plains of , waking up to a lazy winter morning, can be seen gradually giving way to small forested regions around and , where we have the first sighting of the sun. We begin to pickup momentum after Manikpur and reach , the erstwhile rail-head for the famous Temples. By this time, the delay stood at 1 hour and 40 minutes. A decent run follows as we pass by , the town famous for its connection to Indian classical music and end up at delayed by 2 hours. The last leg of our journey passes smoothly and we coast into at 12:40 pm, delayed by 1 hour 40 minutes. One interesting spotting at Jabalpur yard was the rake of the proposed Jabalpur lying idle. Major station skips include Danapur, , , , and . There are however a host of crossings in this rather short journey starting with the Dibrugarh and Patna Rajdhanis on the first night and followed by the Tapti Ganga Express, Bundelkhand Express, Kashi Express, Mysuru Varanasi Express, Godan Express, Mumbai Asansol Express, Durg Nautanwa Express, Pawan Express, Secunderabad Danapur Express, Jabalpur Rewa Express, Indore Rewa Express, Kamayani Express, Sarnath Express, Gyan Ganga Express, Mumbai LTT Azamgarh Express, Mumbai LTT Gorakhpur Express and a handful of passenger trains on the next morning. One major attraction in this journey is the spotting of THREE twin ALCos, all from Itarsi, with the Tapti Ganga, Pawan and the Mumbai Gorakhpur Express. There are other spottings from Katni, and Itarsi as well. The main variety, however, comes from the locomotives with the ones from Itarsi, Samastipur, Izzatnagar, Krishnarajapuram and Pune turning up en-route with the trains listed above.
