As the evidence drew to a close, the time came for Diana's substantive boyfriend for the final two years of her life to give his side of the story. Dr Hasnat Khan had moved to Pakistan in 2007 and declined to appear at the Inquest in person however he gave a statement to the Metropolitan Police's Operation Paget team in 2004. The statement was read out to the court as were the written answers to questions the Coroner had sent to him consequential on his statement.
