Hi,in this video we can see how to make paruppu urundai kulambu in Tamil.
PARUPPU URUNDAI KULAMBU
INGREDIENTS
toor dal - ½ cup
bengal gram dal - ½ cup
feneel - 2 tsp
grated coconut - ¼ cup
shallots - ¾ cup
turmeric powder - ½ tsp
coriander powder - 2 tsp
chili powder - 1 tsp
asafoetida - ¼ tsp
tamarind
sesame oil
curry leaves
mustard
dried red chilies - 4
salt
water
METHOD OF PREPARATION
1.Soak ½ cup toor dal and ½ cup bengal gram dal for 1 hour.
2.Grind the soaked dal coarsely without water.Add 1 tsp fennel while grinding.
3.Transfer it to a bowl.Add 10 finely chopped shallots,few curry leaves,¼ tsp asafoetida and required salt.
4.Make small balls and cook them in an idli tawa for about 10-15 minutes.
5.In a bowl take ½ tsp turmeric powder,2 tsp coriander powder,1 tsp chili powder and required salt.
6.Add ½ cup tamarind water.Grind ¼ cup grated coconut with 1 tsp fennel to a very nice paste by adding water.
7.Add the coconut mixture to the bowl and add 1½ cups water and mix well.
Keep this ready while the dal balls gets cooked.Add water according to the curry you require.
8.In a kadai add some sesame oil,splutter few mustard,add 3 dried red chilies and some curry leaves.
9.Saute ½ cup shallots for few minutes and add the prepared water and let it boil.
10.Once it boils for few minutes add the dal ball and again boil for 5 more minutes and off the flame.
11.The curry will thicken when it cools down.
