As per the NCRB Data, about 74% of rape cases under Section 376 of the IPC end up acquitting the accused. But does this mean all the cases are fake? No! - There are many such cases where women fail to prove that violence has happened to them, but it does not mean that violence did not happen. - Also some factors lead sexual violence survivors to withdraw their complaints, turn hostile during investigation or trial, or settle outside court. Looking at the increasing number of false rape cases in India, it is wrong to jump to the conclusion that women are misusing the law. There is a need to strengthen India’s judicial system in which women can prove the atrocities committed against them without any fear. But Crime has no gender; do you also agree!?
