Why is the planetary model of the Atom still promoted in the main stream and taught in classes? Even the concept of orbital shells does a huge disservice to what is actually going on. I stand on the notion that the word Orbitals should be removed from scientific literature because it implies that the electrons do in fact orbit, but we all know that it is a probability wave function that creates the electron cloud. If electrons are physical things that orbit their nucleus, then it would be impossible for the electron to be inside or touching the nucleus, and yet we know that the ground state of Hydrogen has the electron positioned at the nucleus with zero angular momentum. I must ask; Is there a conspiracy going on to make the world seem completely materialistic when in fact it is spooky quantum mechanical?
