@"Summer of Scorsese" Retrospective Set for Palm Springs Cultural Center's Historic Camelot Theatre
The Palm Springs Cultural Center is excited to announce the Summer of Scorsese, the latest installment in its Palm Springs Rewinds film retrospective series. PS Rewinds: Summer of Scorsese will screen the must-see films of legendary director Martin Scorsese in the Cultural Center’s Historic Camelot Theatre, with a live introduction before each film. Palm Springs Rewinds is an ongoing series that showcases the definitive work of acclaimed contemporary directors. The Summer of Scorsese follows the highly successful Terry Gilliam Retrospective and previous series featuring Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Tim Burton, and the Coen brothers. With a career spanning more than six decades, Martin Scorsese is at the forefront of great American filmmakers, and is widely regarded as one of the most influential directors of all time. His films are a masterclass in cinematic storytelling, featuring unforgettable characters, breathtaking cinematography, and groundbreaking editing techniques. From the gritty streets of New York City in Taxi Driver and Mean Streets, to the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas in Casino, Scorsese's films transport audiences to worlds both familiar and foreign. He has a unique ability to capture the essence of a time and place, bringing to life the sights, sounds, and emotions of his characters with unparalleled authenticity. “We are so excited to showcase these extraordinary films” said Program Director Lauren Wolfer. “Especially with the Palm Springs Rewinds audience, which has become a true community of movie lovers.”’ The PS Rewinds: Summer of Scorsese will feature eight of Martin Scorsese's definitive films, starting with Mean Streets on Saturday, July 1st, and concluding with Casino on Saturday, September 16th. Showtime is 7 pm. The screenings will take place on select Saturdays at 7pm at the Palm Springs Cultural Center’s Historic Camelot Theatre, located at 2300 E Baristo Rd. The Historic Camelot Theatre is highly regarded by film fans, boasting one of the largest screens in the Coachella Valley and a state-of-the-art sound system. The series is sponsored by Green Dragon Dispensary and Lounge, The Bianco Group with Coldwell Banker Realty, and CV Independent. Don't miss a single film!
