The High Court has quashed and set aside Caste Scrutiny Committee's order dated 05.05.2023 declining to verify the Caste Certificate dated 18.03.2021 issued by the Deputy Collector, Mapusa certifying that Tarak Arolkar belongs to OBC. The High Court has also quashed the order of the Director of Urban Development disqualifying Tarak Arolkar as a Councillor from Ward no.7 of Mapusa Municipal Council based upon CSC's order dated 05.05.2023. But the High Court has clarified that quashing of the two orders will not prevent the competent authority from re-visiting the issue of the Tarak Arolkar's caste claim in accordance with the law.
