PsyWarOps's video: McCormick and Deering Reaper-Binder Winegarten Missouri

@McCormick and Deering, Reaper-Binder, Winegarten Missouri
This is a simulation of a farm implement being pulled through a field of standing wheat. Filmed at the Winegarten Picnic and Farm Implement Show in Winegarten, Missouri, 31 July 2016. The Reaper-Binder, was a farm implement that improved upon the harvesting of wheat. The Reaper-Binder was initially pulled by horses or mules until the advent of the tractor. The Reaper part of this machine cuts and gathers the stalks of wheat. It was pulled through the standing field of wheat crops and the paddles positioned above the platform held the stalks against reciprocating cutting knives. As the wheat stems were cut the paddles pushed the stalks back, laying them on a conveyor. The Binder part of the machine gathers the wheat stems into small bundles, or sheaves and kicks them out the right side of the binder. Later the sheave will be gathered and stacked in small "teepees" for drying in the field. After field drying, the sheaves were picked up by hand and tossed into a wagon to be carried to a stationary threshing machine.
