Sorry I rushed this video and its like 2 am I want to bitch about this, here is the titles: two theme options, uh... (The preview is nice at least) You're only allowed to have a baby high contrast mode "dark sidebar" when in light mode. accessibility options = basic microsoft office text formatting. no option to change font or colors outside of themes at least there's motion reduction and sync why do you have motion on by default for a chat app in the first place and thats it, no font choice, no color choice, no true high contrast mode, no monochrome mode, no alt text, and for the longest time, no basic blind accessibility the other two options are basically for nerds "but developing in electron is hard!" then wait until you hear this one incredible gamer protip DONT DEVELOP IN ELECTRON Now compare with a custom menu system built from scratch in game maker language (GML) for my card game that I built in less than 4 weeks All menu options (outside of some TTS work) are fully integrated and functional as of this video - end titles - The accessibility forum is a graveyard where basic accessibility features go to die And quite frankly I have pretty good reason to believe the reason why they took so long to implement blind accessibility was because they branded themselves as a gamer platform, allowing them to dodge FCC accessibility requirements until 6 months before the requirements were enacted in January 1st 2019 (https://www.gtlaw.com/en/insights/2019/12/fcc-rules-require-communications-in-video-games-to-be-accessible-and-usable). Font choice in general can greatly enhance a disabled person's experience by allowing them to use what is most comfortable for them. Instead Discord will punish you for using discord front end alternatives when their own official front end is garbage dogshit by terminating your account. Of course a video game is not a perfect analog to a chat program. It does prove however that the groundwork to a highly accessible interface can be built from scratch in a short amount of time (aka not 5 years)
