Pushkin House's video: Pushkin s Mozart and Salieri - A Reading with Musical Interludes

@Pushkin's Mozart and Salieri - A Reading with Musical Interludes
Recorded live on Zoom on 9th November 2020, this event from the Pushkin Club brings together a rehearsed reading of Pushkin's "Little Tragedy" play 'Mozart and Salieri', with a recital of his poem 'The Upas Tree'. Both are among his bleakest work, released in 1832, and deal with the subject of poisoning. David Brummell, chairman of the Pushkin Club, introduces both works with an introduction on their historical context. Nadia Giliova on piano plays an overture of the Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem, and the readers in English are Antony Wood (The Upas Tree), Lucy Daniels (Mozart in 'Mozart and Salieri') and Olegar Fedoro (as Salieri). The Russian original for both is recited by Alla Gelich. The Q&A is introduced and chaired by Rafy Hay, director of programming at Pushkin House. https://pushkinhouse.org
