Cellist Ariana Kashefi and Pushkin House's music director Alexander Karpeyev play Alexander Varlamov's setting of Lermontov's poem 'The Angel'. This was originally one of the many Russian songs by Alexander Egorovich Varlamov' (1801-1848), and was arranged for piano and cello by Norbert Salter, a German cellist of the fin-de-siècle.
