Queens College's video: QCclassof2019: Tameka Edwards-Hepburn

When Tameka Edwards-Hepburn's ’19 degree was on the line, Commencement Speaker Matthew Higgins and the QC Foundation stepped in to help her keep going with a Linda Higgins Empowerment Scholarship, which supports parents who are taking classes at the college. Able to provide for her three young children and stay in school, she is now graduating with a degree in elementary and early childhood education and will be enrolling in Queens College’s master’s program to become an elementary school teacher. “There is no nontraditional age that should stop you from going after that degree that you want. To not finish would have been a great injustice to me and my children.”
