We first hear about the existence of something known as an Axlotl tank in Dune Messiah. We learn in the novel that Duncan Idaho’s dead flesh was placed into the tank and was removed alive. The Tleilaxu use Axlotl tanks for several purposes, in the series, it is known that they reproduce ghola, creates and face dancers, and eventually create a substitute from spice Melange using their Axlotl Tanks.
