Actually, this is R. K. Cook, curator of this channel, reciting his poem "Old Pumpkin." Amazing how an ugly face and candlelight can create an eerie atmosphere. Inspired by the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe, "Old Pumpkin" is a meditation on autumn, the season when many things change ... and some die, as the aging narrator does, when the Wild Hunt comes to call. A slightly different version of "Old Pumpkin" is scheduled to appear in the Fall 2019 issue of The Lyric.
