R. K. Cook's video: Green Anole Lizard Eats Wolf Spider Gets Sleepy

HANK WILDING'S JOURNAL: Folks, I should know better than to leave the shack without my camera. After spotting this Green Anole scarfing down an unfortunate Wolf Spider one September (2016) afternoon, I had to run back home for my equipment; by the time I returned to the crick, the spider was already two thirds of the way down the lizard's gullet. I watched the process with interest for about ten minutes, noting the anole's uncannily human-like lip-smacking and gulping as he worked the tasty arachnid — its legs still twitching occasionally, mind you — down the tube. When the anole had finally ingested its eight-legged entree, a look of satisfaction blossomed on its dinosaurian face, and it went night-night. Awwww! I know, I know, there's nothing especially dramatic about this video, but I thought it was a good opportunity to study the lizard up close and in vivid green bloom, as it were.
