To practice maintaining balance and a stable body position when jumping Former All Black hooker, Crusaders assistant coach and current Hurricanes head coach, Mark Hammett, take you inside with the Crusaders to demonstrate a key aspect of lineout jumping. The drill teaches jumpers to maintain a good body shape during the jump sequence by pointing toes towards the ground when in the air. This locks body into a stable position making it much easier for lifters to hold the player in place and compete for the ball. This key skill is reinforced consistently in the Canterbury and Crusader environment and can be taught to players of all levels.
