Imperial Hotel, Japan 27 September 2011 Toyota Motor Corporation is producing 100,000 cars by 2013 as part of their development and expansion plans in the Philippines when the group called on President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Toyota Motor Corporation Executive Vice President Yukitoshi Funo, Toyota Motor Corporation (Philippines) President Michinobu Sugata, Vice Chairman Alfred Ty and Antonio Abacan, Jr. of the Metrobank Group of Companies informed the President of their plans in plant improvement and expansion in car production that is worth US$170 million. Toyota Motor Philippines, which manufactures the Innova and Vios models, has a total investment amount of P20billion. It has 35,000 workers involved in operations, manufacturing, retail and services. It is keen on expanding dealership and establishing a 'next generation component' manufacturing plant facility. This will create an estimated 5,000 jobs more. On a lighter note, President Aquino also recalled during the meeting that his father used to drive a Toyota Crown, which he later inherited and liked to drive. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is a top ten Fortune Global 500 enterprise and is one of the world's largest automobile manufacturers, selling 7.5 million models annually on all five continents.
