Imperial Hotel, Tokyo 27 September 2011 Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. President Tadanobu Nagumo and Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. President Tetsuya Kuze called on President Benigno S. Aquino III to announce an expansion of tire production in the Philippines worth US$600 million in a span 3 years. By 2017, the group hopes to have doubled their production of making a minimum of 40,000 tires per day from the normal production of over 20,000 tires per day. The production has already started this year. Yokohama Tire Philippines at the Clark Special Economic Zone employs around 3, 500 workers and it is the biggest factory outside Japan by its parent company, Yokohama Rubber Company.
